Sustainable procurement
Public procurement can promote various sustainability goals. At Hansel, each joint procurement is subject to a sustainability analysis. The impacts of procurement are also included in the tender planning we carry out for our customers.
Sustainability management
One of the main themes of Hansel’s strategy is “Sustainability is our trump card”. The greatest impact in our operations is achieved through the joint procurement that we tender for public sector customers, which is why our sustainability goals are largely based on our procurement categories.
Double materiality analysis
The double materiality assessment process was launched in summer 2024. The matters on which we have the greatest impact from the point of view of both our own operations and the risks and opportunities related to the themes were identified as material.
Impact analysis helps to achieve goals
In 2025, impact analyses were also introduced in our customers’ minicompetitions, which are carried out within joint procurement. A total of five of them were carried out in the MinikisaPlus competitions for the Cleaning services 2021–2027 and Catering services 2025– dynamic procurement systems.
Sustainability audit on the joint procurement of AV equipment and services
Each year, we conduct a sustainability audit on one joint procurement. In 2025, the audit was carried out on the 2023-2026 AV Equipment and Services framework agreement. The requirements of the Code of Conduct agreement appendix served as the reference framework.
Preventing labour exploitation in cleaning service procurement
We participated in a project led by Motiva and HEUNI aiming to create a monitoring model for the implementation of working conditions and terms in cleaning procurement during the agreement period and promote social responsibility and a fair working life.
Natural Resources Institute Finland’s operating model for sustainable procurement is based on minor measures
The procurement team of the Finnish Natural Resources Institute (Luke) had already been drawing up a sustainable procurement operating model for a couple of years. Hansel’s development managers helped to complete a concise and practical operating model for supporting sustainable procurement in three workshops.
